How this card works

Muamar Reyes: El Capitán has no cost and stays in your Legends area for the whole game. His Spend ability adjusts any Gig by 1, up or down, which is useful every turn for fixing pairs, min Gigs or Street Cred. When you Call him, choose between drawing 1 and making a friendly Unit impossible to defeat in a fight this turn.

The protection is best on a Unit that wants to lose. Maelstrom Zealots defeat the opposing rival Unit when they lose a fight; with Muamar they also survive it. Safety Override gives a similar payoff to any friendly Unit for 2 Eddies, but it does not protect your own Unit.

Per the FAQ, the protection covers every fight that Unit has this turn, yet the Unit still loses, so lose-a-fight triggers still happen. You may pick the Unit option with no Unit, it just fails. His Spend helps every turn, so reveal him early.
