Alt Cunningham: Mother of Daemons

Card text

Playable in Go Solo

When a friendly equipped Unit or Legend is spent, draw 1.
When a rival Unit would steal a Gig, you may discard 1 with cost equal to that Gig's value. If you do, the Gig isn't stolen.

How this card works

Judge this card by its two passive effects, not its stats. 7 Eddies for 8 power still steals only one Gig. The first effect draws you a card whenever a friendly equipped Unit or Legend is spent. The second lets you stop a rival steal: when a rival Unit would steal a Gig, you may discard a card with cost equal to that Gig's value, and the Gig stays with you.

Cheap Gear feeds the draw engine. Mandibular Upgrade costs 1 Eddie and gives Blocker, and using Blocker spends the Unit, so it draws you a card. Kiroshi Optics, also 1 Eddie, is a cheap Gear, so the Unit draws through Alt whenever it attacks, since attacking spends it.

The FAQ confirms both effects work on either player's turn. No card costs more than 9, so a Gig at 10 or higher cannot be protected by a discard. She needs 3 Yellow RAM.
